Join us for a panel discussion with Edward Snowden, Noam Chomsky and Glenn Greenwald – pivotal figures in the debate over privacy – as they discuss the battle between personal liberties vs. national security.
Snowden provoked an international debate in 2013 when he released classified NSA files to journalist Greenwald. The federal government filed charges against Snowden, who then fled the country and has been a fugitive for nearly three years. He will be joining the discussion via video chat from an undisclosed location in Russia.
Greenwald is an outspoken supporter of civil liberties, and Chomsky has argued that mass surveillance is ineffective in stopping terrorism.
Moderator Nuala O’Connor, president and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology, will appear live on stage with Chomsky and Greenwald.
The panel will also answer questions submitted by the public before the event.
